Dr. D. Chamundeeswari is a distinguished academician and researcher with an illustrious career spanning over 33 years in the field of Pharmacy. She graduated with First Class in Pharmacy in 1988, completed her M.Pharmacy in Pharmacognosy with First Class in 1992, and earned her Ph.D. from The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University in 2012.

Dr. Chamundeeswari has served in several prestigious national roles, including Pharmacognosy Expert in the Committee for Harmonisation of ASU & H Drugs, Ghaziabad (2018–2021), Inspector for the Pharmacy Council of India, and Expert Member for framing the PG curriculum in Pharmacognosy for the Pharmacy Council of India, New Delhi. She has also contributed her expertise to DBT, Staff Selection Commission, and JSS University, Mysuru, and is an Elected Fellow of the Indian Chemical Society.

She has been an adjudicator for Ph.D. theses across numerous reputed universities such as Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Andhra University, Kakatiya University, Sastra University, and The TN Dr. MGR Medical University, among others.

Her outstanding contributions have earned her several notable awards, including:

• Lifetime Achievement Award – Lions International (2025)
• Young Scientist Award – Department of Science & Technology (2006–2009)
• Dr. Sergio G. Litewka Gold Medal for Indian Patent filing (2015)
• Outstanding Contribution Award – Society of Ethnopharmacology (2014)
• Best Academician of the Year Award – CEGR, Delhi (2021)
• Multiple Best Paper and Best Teacher Awards

In the area of NAAC and Quality Assurance, she has made significant contributions as a NAAC Peer Team Member, Resource Person in various national programs, and Coordinator, Society for Ethnopharmacology – Chennai Chapter.

With her vast experience, leadership, and nationally recognized contributions, Dr. D. Chamundeeswari continues to be an inspiring force in the fields of Pharmacy and Pharmacognosy.
