Frequently Asked Questions About NAAC Accreditation

NAAC stands for National Assessment and Accreditation Council. In education, the NAAC full form refers to the autonomous body under the UGC that assesses and accredits colleges and universities in India.

NAAC accreditation is an official quality recognition given to higher education institutions in India. NAAC reviews an institution's Self-Study Report, verifies the data (DVV) and conducts a peer team visit before declaring the outcome. NAAC India accreditation affects funding eligibility, autonomy and institutional reputation.

NAAC assesses institutions on seven criteria : Curricular Design; Teaching & Learning; Faculty Resources; Financial Resources; Extended Curricular Engagment; Research and Innovations ; Infrastructure ; Student outcomes; ; Governance & Administration; Sustinability/ Green. IAE's NAAC workshops cover each criterion in detail, including key indicators, QlM/QnM metrics and documentation requirements.

NAAC has moved from letter grades (A++ to C) to binary accreditation, where an institution is declared either Accredited or Not Accredited. Accredited institutions can then opt for Maturity-Based Graded Levels (MBGL) to show higher quality maturity. Grades earned under the earlier system stay valid until their cycle ends. IAE guides institutions through binary accreditation with documentation, a compliance matrix and digital submissions.

Institutions often struggle with data accuracy and supporting evidence, heavy documentation, DVV queries, the subjectivity of qualitative metrics and the effort of repeating the process every cycle. The move to binary accreditation is meant to simplify the process. IAE's gap analysis, SSR support and mock peer team visit help institutions avoid these issues.

IAE supports the full cycle: gap analysis, strategic roadmap, SSR preparation, DVV support, binary accreditation guidance, IQAC training, mock peer team visit and post-accreditation (AQAR and re-accreditation) support.
